Talented Young Musicians Association began as a group of Russian music teachers from Somerset, New Jersey, in August 2004, who shared a love of music.

TYMA is a public benefit, nonprofit corporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of IRC Section 501 (c) (3). The specific purposes of this organization are to advance and strengthen individual and public education through the promotion of the arts and to aid promising music performers to further their careers through performances of their musical artistry. TYMA advances these goals with their three main activities:

Auditions:  a test given to a musician to determine suitability of professional training in music.  The musician has the opportunity to play a prepared piece of music in front of a judging panel.   Auditions take place once a year in the spring and musicians receive evaluation certificates.

The Russian Music Competition:   this program will educate the public on the performing arts through the cultural media of music in live performance and appreciation of the public for the rich musical heritage of Russian composers. This program will be primarily funded by donations and contributions.  The Russian Music Competition takes place once a year in the fall and participants will receive certificates and awards.

Students Recitals : the purpose of this program is to educate the public on the performing arts through the cultural media of live performance music. Specifically, young musicians from age 5 through 18.  Recitals take place 4-5 times a year.

Students who participate in all of 3 TYMA programs over a period of 3 years (maximum), will have the opportunity to be selected for our scholarship program.

Membership Fee $25/yearly (September 2014-August 2015).

Membership allows teachers to participate in any TYMA events with their students.
